Arch Henderson LLP was appointed by Montrose Port Authority as lead consultant for the design, procurement and delivery of the O & M Base for the Port Authority's client, Seagreen Wind Energy. The new base at Montrose Port, South Harbour was completed in December 2021.
It was important to Seagreen Wind Energy, given its company objectives in renewable energy, that the project was as environmentally friendly as possible and to this end the project involved the repurposing of both an existing office building, previously sited in Aberdeen, and a 50m high meteorological mast previously sited in Moray. The steel frame, staircases, raised access floors and various other components were utilised in the main control building for the new development, whilst the mast was re-used in its entirety as a communications tower serving both the wind farm and crew transfer vessels. An existing warehouse was refurbished to provide base staff facilities, workshops together with COSHH, temperature controlled and racking storage.
The development also included a 30m long pontoon for berthing the crew transfer vessels.
